Overview of Our Lawn Care Services
Weed Control & Fertilization Program
The timing of our Weed Control & Fertilization program are dependent on Wisconsin's unpredictable weather and are subject to change.
Typically, we begin servicing Spring Crabgrass Prevention customers with Starter Fertilizer in Mid-April through Mid-May. The other services occur through early Spring and continue until early Winter.
1) Spring Crabgrass Prevention with Starter Fertilizer (19-0-0): An application of a pre-emergent herbicide (Dimension) that works by suppressing the germination of the crabgrass seed before it can emerge from the soil - with a boost of nitrogen fertilizer for your lawn.
2) Spring Weed Control: Use of a seasonal contact-selective liquid herbicide (odorless TriadSL) that is designed to regulate a wide range of broad leaf weeds in lawn (dandelions, black medic, oxalis). Please note that certain weeds such as creeping charlie and wild violet require a
3) Summer Fertilizer (25-0-3): Use of a dry granular, slow-release fertilizer to support the turf and provide a green-up as the grass comes under stress during the heat of summer.
4) Summer Weed Control: Use of a seasonal contact-selective liquid herbicide (odorless TriadSL) that is designed to regulate a wide range of broad leaf weeds in lawn (clover, henbit, thistles). Please note that certain weeds such as creeping charlie and wild violet require a different herbicide and service to eliminate them.
5) Fall Fertilizer (25-0-3): The use of a dry granular, slow-release fertilizer professionally blended and applied for the fall season.
6) Early Winter Fertilizer (30-0-4): This high-nitrogen fertilizer feeds the turf before winter, and also in early spring with the melting snow.
Insecticide Service
The granular insecticide Acelepryn is applied to the turf for the control of lawn insects. This product acts as a preventative against grubs, mites, beetles, and chinch bugs. Very low in toxicity and does not harm pollinators!
Aeration Service
Recommended in fall, aeration is the process of mechanically removing small plugs of soil from the lawn. This process improves the soil condition to allow oxygen, nutrients, and water to penetrate into the root zone. Aeration alleviates the compaction of soil, reduces thatch, and encourages positive growth of your lawn.
Over-Seeding Service
All the turf on your property is over-seeded with Complete Lawn & Landscape Supply's Deluxe Seed Blend. Seed must be watered for best results. Best done with a fall aeration service (which is priced separately).
Creeping Charlie/Wild Violet Control
Creeping Charlie is an especially nasty weed and can take over an entire lawn if not treated properly. It also does not respond to standard herbicide products. Control Creeping Charlie (and Wild Violet) by spraying it with our proprietary blend of herbicides. Multiple treatments may be required throughout the seasons to keep these weeds controlled.
